How To Replace Shower Tile

Replacing a shower tile requires more than changing the visible piece. The waterproof layer, adhesive bed, grout joints, and concealed fittings must remain intact. Poor removal can create a hidden water path behind the wall.

Remove and Install the Tile

Shut off the water supply near a valve or outlet. Remove the grout, break the tile inward, and lift away small pieces without cutting into the backing board. Clean off old adhesive and inspect the substrate and waterproof membrane.

ANSI A118.10 sets requirements for bonded waterproof membranes beneath thin-set tile. ISO 13006 defines classifications and marking requirements for ceramic tiles. Repair any damaged membrane before fitting the new tile.

Apply suitable mortar, align the joints, and allow it to cure before grouting. Use flexible sealant at movement joints. Check the repaired area for water resistance before use.

Manufacturer and Project Control

Tile replacement around a concealed valve may reveal incorrect installation depth, trim coverage, or outlet alignment. A manufacturer can coordinate valve dimensions, cover plates, threads, finishes, and spare parts more directly than a trader.

Founded in 2009, we integrate design, R&D, mold manufacturing, machining, surface treatment, assembly, and testing. Our OEM and ODM process covers drawing review, sample approval, pressure testing, inspection, and export packing.
