Could A Hot Shower Set Off A Hotel Sprinkler
A hot shower is very unlikely to set off a hotel sprinkler. Sprinkler heads are heat-activated, not steam-activated, and NFPA explains that ordinary temperature-rated sprinklers are generally rated from 135°F to 170°F. In normal hotel bathroom use, shower steam may create humidity and nuisance issues for nearby smoke detection, but it does not usually create the sustained ceiling-level heat needed to activate a sprinkler head.
